I’m hosting a Friendsgiving this weekend as a going away party for a great friend. I’ve hosted this kind of Thanksgiving dinner in the past and amassed quite a decor collection. But this will be the first party where we actually have a kids table. Since I’m all about the details and need to make sure every aspect of the party has some sort of thoughtful decoration, I put together a really quick centerpiece that will work for a small table or, can be easily duplicated if you need to line a longer table with something. I’m the latter, and will need at least 2. When I’m decorating for the holiday, I usually go to my local DollarTree first, but there’s very little Thanksgiving decor. Since I mostly needed florals/stems and ribbon for this project, I stopped over at JoAnn Fabrics instead, because I always know I can get an amazing discount there. Not only was the floral decor heavily discounted, but I also picked up some fall pieces that were in the 70% off section. I then pulled up a coupon on RetailMeNot for even further savings. Never forget about that website! I’m not very good about saving coupons, but I always have my smartphone on me. You can quickly pull up coupon codes for any store that can be scanned at checkout. Nothing beats getting sales upon sales.
For my centerpiece, I picked up some plastic mason jars, burlap ribbon with some branch designs, and brown roses to put int he jars. I thought about using leaf bunches too, but I love the look of a few roses in a simple jar or vase. It’s simply and elegant.
For supplies, I only needed scissors to cut off the rose stems to my desired length and a glue gun to attach the ribbon. That’s it! See below for the results.
Design tip: Line up the ends of your ribbon on the side so that they are covered by the handle. That way, the seams are less visible.
