This is somewhat of a Part 2 to our Asbury Park day trip over spring break. The girls wanted to go shopping, of course, and so we stopped in to Shelter Home Fun House in the Convention Hall where there was an assortment of little collectible vinyl toys. While these toys are nothing new in our home, the brands they picked were ones I’ve never seen. Typically these vinyl toys are considered “blind box” figures, with the idea that you don’t know what you’re getting until you open the package. The box will usually show you all the available collectable toys in the “Series,” but the allure of the toy is the mystery of what’s inside.
There are many different varieties of these blind box collectables, and the girls picked out toys from the following: Unicorno, Yummy World by Kidrobot, Kibbles ‘n’ Labbits by Kidrobot. I’ll admit that at first glance I couldn’t understand the appeal of some of the toys, but as the girls hastily opened their boxes on the Boardwalk, I saw just how cute and funny they are! Seriously, how cute are the cupcake and peanut!
You can find these collectables in pretty much any store that carries toys and gifts. Below are ways to shop the ones we got, but if you type “blind box figures” or “mystery toys,” you’ll stumble upon so many more!
