So it seems I have a thing for spiders–the sparkly and glittery kind. I have been collecting items for some time to create a Halloween display on my mantelpiece, and when I put it all together, I noticed the unplanned theme. I’ve always loved spiders for accessorizing–there’s something elegantly edgy about a sparkly spider broach or drop earring that I just love. One of my favorite pair of Halloween earrings are by Betsey Johnson— a woman who clearly knows how to glam-up the 8-legged arachnid. As I started collecting decorations for my Halloween mantelpiece display, I found myself drawn to spiders–from candlesticks to burlap. And I’m sure I’m not the only one who would be too. (Side note for those of you who are into hidden meanings and such: I found that the spider symbol serves as a reminder that our choices represent who we are. I think my subconscious is telling me something.)
So my picks this week are all about spider decor.
1. Halloween Spiders Burlap — I was all over this like burlap on a mason jar. 2. How incredible is this spider web rug by BowerPowerBlog.com! All it takes is duct tape and a canvas drop cloth.
3. Transform a few hurricane candle holders into glowing spider webs with this great DIY by Thrifty Crafty Girl.
4. It’s amazing what you can do with glue and glitter. Get the details from Redbook.
5. What do you do with all those mason jars you just bought in bulk? Try this easy-peasy (and flameless) spider lantern project from Bitz & Giggles.
6. I love a good Sharpie project. Grab a white pumpkin (or paint one white) and draw on your spider web. This one is from Diary of Dave’s Wife.
