I don’t know if I’ll ever own a Christian Louboutin shoe. Maybe the closest thing I’ll come to it is if I actually paint the underside of one of my fancy heels with red paint. From a distance, who could really tell right? But a girl can still dream….and browse…and pin….and introduce her little fancy girls to one the most fabulous shoe designers in the history of shoes.
Here’s a first look at Christian Louboutin’s interpretation of Cinderella’s glass slipper that he made to celebrate the Oct 2nd re-release of the Disney DVD. If we were talking about a real life Cinderella and her upcoming nuptials to Prince Charming, my guess is she would a) wear a dress from American designer Vera Wang or Carolina Herrera (or maybe even Project Runway alumna Carol Hannah Whitfield), b) sparkle with Neil Lane jewels, and c) strut down the castle aisle in custom Christian Louitbutin shoes.
“Her character and her story dictated the design to me, it was all there in the pages and the words of this tale,” explained the designer. “Cinderella is not only an iconic character when it comes to grace and fairytale love, but also shoes. The dream is a major factor in my language of design. There are no limits in the world of fantasy and there is always a happily ever after.” –source
