The grey and light pink combination for girls fashion has become one of my favorite winter colors to put together. When the temperature drops, it’s customary to pull out dark coats, hats, sweaters and leggings. However, some of most beautiful tones that depict winter are silver, grey, white, icy blues and lilacs, and they help to add a soft glow to these darker months. A big trend in childrenswear for AW 2016-2017 has been the Icelandic/nordic tones, as I mentioned, plus taupes and light pinks. The color palette is typically found in nursery decor and baby clothes, but thankfully it has spilled over into kidswear. It’s easy to start with a grey base – it’s a mainstay in our home – and then add some pops of color as an accent. My youngest’s favorite winter coat has been a grey polkadot puffer coat from Gap. On Black Friday, I picked up a light pink hat for her from Hanna Anderson that she’s been wearing on the regular with that coat. It’s a soft combination that might not be an obvious pairing, but that go together nicely.
In terms of some runway inspiration, one of my favorite childrenswear designers who best represents the grey and pink trend for this season is Monnalisa for Fall/Winter 2016.
