Friday Fresh Picks: How to Rock the 2015 Pantone Color of the Year – Marsala

Trendspotting: Pantone Color of the Year 2015 Marsala for Kids

Friday Fresh Picks Will you be wearing the Pantone Color of the Year for 2015? The authority on color recently chose Marsala, a luscious wine hue, as the It Color to watch. It’s already receiving mixed reviews, but I was pleased it was toned down from last year’s choice, Radiant Orchid. The best way to describe Marsala is in other wine-related words like bordeaux, merlot and burgundy. And unlike its predecessor, the deep and soft nature of the color makes it more appealing to the masses. While it could be a little tricky to pull off an oversized Radiant Orchid handbag or makeup shade, Marsala is versatile in its wearability. I will admit that the big color reveal had me feeling a little “eh,”  but after curating a Pinterest board of ideas, I’m totally loving it. Here’s how you can rock the look, starting with small touches to a full-length ensamble. And check out my picks for the little Fancy Girl too.

1. Zoya Pepper Nail Polish, $9, artofbeauty.com: It’s kind of perfect that the description already had Marsala in mind. Friday Fresh Picks: How to Rock the 2015 Pantone Color of the Year Marsala   2. Burgundy MAC shadows via Temptalia.com: If you have blue or green eyes, these colors will make them pop! Come to think of it– I need to try this! Instagram user @megsmakeupxo shared a photo of her eyes after using a blend of MAC Cranberry and Sketch (shown below) Friday Fresh Picks: How to Rock the 2015 Pantone Color of the Year Marsala       3. Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Raisin, $26, Neiman Marcus: Marsala has already been compared to the lipstick color of choice from the 90s, so just be conscious of your #tbt lips when you wear it.  But then again, we should wear what makes us look and feel good. Isn’t that what matters the most? It’s the new neutral. You can wear with jeans, khakis, florals, leopard print, navy, etc.  Here’s some inspiration with jeans, a blazer, a cream top and burgundy slippers. It’s a little Kate Middleton, don’t you think?   Friday Fresh Picks: How to Rock the 2015 Pantone Color of the Year Marsala     5. Outfit inspiration: Okay, shut. up. Can we talk about this? Total perfection. Gold and Bordeaux/Merlot/Wine/Marsala are a perfect match. And as I mentioned above, if you normally do black separates, then try this color. The animal print heels totally make the look. It’s a 50’s throwback with a modern upgrade. Here’s some inspiration in a burgundy/wine color.  Friday Fresh Picks: How to Rock the 2015 Pantone Color of the Year Marsala Friday Fresh Picks: How to Rock the 2015 Pantone Color of the Year Marsala Friday Fresh Picks: How to Rock the 2015 Pantone Color of the Year Marsala       7. T Tahari Women’s Marla Wool Wrap Coat, $179, Amazon: Are you starting to see how Marsala is the new Black?
