My rosy and sparkly Valentine’s Day wishlist

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I was inspired by Blue Nile to share some gift ideas with you featuring two of my favorite aesthetics at the moment: rose gold and vintage statement pieces. When I first heard about Blue Nile in college, it was known as the make-your-own engagement ring site. The idea of online engagement ring shopping was such a foreign concept (hello 2000), and so I played around a bit designing engagement rings – a totally normal thing for an early 20s woman to do. At the time, my jewelry style was all silver, all the time. I was totally against gold, and my THING was wearing rings from QVC and pendant gemstone necklaces. By the time I got engaged for real in 2005, I was more into vintage and Art Deco-inspired designs and statement earrings (my engagement/wedding rings were from a 1912 collection at a local jewelry store). I still didn’t like gold, but I was still into gemstones. Fourteen years later, I would say that my preferred taste in jewelry still leans towards vintage and statement pieces, but I have added rose gold and delicate layering pieces to the mix. So I thought it would be fun to go “window shopping” through the site and bookmark some items for later. Blue Nile is more than just wedding and engagement rings: they have a range of jewelry gifts ranging from under $100 to over $35,000! One thing is for sure, they are definitely a destination for bling, bling and more bling! I focused my wishlist on two categories: statement earrings and rose gold.
