The swim team season kicked off mid-June for my older girls. It’s their 2nd year on the team, and as much as I moan about the daily practices, it’s really a wonderful experience for everyone. The girls build confidence, develop skills, make new friends, and get to do something they love every day – swim! I too get to socialize with moms I rarely get to see during the year. The swim team routine is still fairly new to me. I was on my town team for maybe 2 years when I was younger, but I just didn’t love it enough to work on my stroke. My husband, on the other hand, went from club swimming all the way up to swim team captain at UPenn. He knew which goggles to get the girls and could tell by watching them at lessons how their stroke was improving. Since I handle the fashion stuff, I had no problem helping get the girls hooked up with things like bags, post-swim loungewear, and post-swim beauty products. But at the end of the day, they will let me know what they like. Below is a list of essentials that your Fancy Girls should have to make the most of her swim team experience. The products are either similar to or the same as items that the girls have.
Bogg Bag – Similar to the “Crocs-like” bags that you can find at various children’s toy/gift boutiques. My middle daughter has a white bag like this.
Silicone Swim Caps: Speedo Luchadores and Sporti Multi Color – We have swim caps with the swim team logo, but they’re latex and hard for the girls (and me) to get over their heads. I like the silicone caps better since they stretch easily.
Speedo Jr. Vanquisher 2.0 Mirrored Goggle, Swim Outlet – These have been the best fitting goggles so far. Dad recommended and kid approved!
Fairy Tales Hair Care Sun & Swim Shampoo, Conditioner, Detangler – The girls love the scent and I like how it’s a natural product that makes their hair soft and shiny.
Swimming Black & White Flannel Pants, VarsityGirl.net – During championships, vendors were selling plaid flannel swim pants. They’re kind of a must.
Dolfin’s Uglies One-Piece Swimsuits, Swim Outlet – These were the practice suits sold on team suit day. I love the contrasting striped straps with the vibrant suit print.
Swim Spray Chlorine Removal, Amazon – In addition to chlorine removal hair products, the swim spray will remove chlorine from your body too.
Vanilla Whipped Body Butter, LOVE by Sarah Walton – Chlorine is very drying. Products like body butter will help keep their skin soft and hydrated. Sarah is a fellow NJ Digital Mom blogger/entrepreneur!
